She creates intimate spaces that resonate for a long time. The artist and ZHdK alumna Zilla Leutenegger (*1968) draws, paints, takes photographs, and works with spatial elements and digitally altered images and sounds. The figure of the artist appears time and again in her works. These are playful, making things easier for her audience. Zilla Leutenegger has received several awards for her work, which have been exhibited internationally. She lives and works in Zurich. Leutenegger graduated from the then Zurich School of Art and Design in 1999. She is being awarded the title “Honorary Companion ZHdK” for her life’s work.

For the exhibition project “BIENNALE BREGAGLIA 2020”, the artistic director Luciano Fasciati and the assistant curators Francine Bernasconi and Sarah Wiesendanger have invited well-known Swiss artists from the four language regions of the country.
On the striking hilltop of Nossa Dona, above Promontogno, art lovers and hikers will find works by contemporary artists on forest paths, in the church, in and next to the medieval defense tower. An art project around the Nossa Dona church and the Lan Müraia dam near Promontogno.

Zilla Leutenegger dedicated five picture panels along the paths to the occasion. She scratched the noblewoman in plaster in the manner of her typical female figures using the sgraffito technique and lets her sometimes look longingly towards Italy, sometimes nonchalantly with sneakers teetering from one leg to the other.
